Las Vegas, Nevada, January 8, 2014 - Pioneer Corporation,
a world leader in electronics products for the car, home and business markets,
and Robin Labs, a Natural Language Understanding (NLU) startup, are presenting an innovative prototype of
an in-vehicle assistant at CES, Las Vegas.
The prototype showcases Pioneer’s Drive Agent Mirror - a voice driven personal assistant embedded in a car
rear-view mirror. The Agent’s voice interface has been developed by Robin Labs as part of the collaboration
between the two companies and is powered by Robin Labs’ NLU platform.
In addition to this collaboration, IT Farm, Pioneer’s venture investment partner, has just made an investment
in Robin Labs on a convertible note. The amount of the deal has not been disclosed, but it is known that this investment is considered a follow-up to Robin Lab’s seed round from Spring 2013.
“To create the ultimate HMI (Human Machine Interface) for the driver, one needs a superior combination of
truly natural voice & language understanding technology and flawlessly integrated hardware components.”
- says Ilya Eckstein, Robin Labs CEO. “Which is why we are excited to join forces with Pioneer,
the wolrd’s top expert on in-vehicle infotainment systems. Together, we are well positioned to radically improve the driving experience for car owners around the globe”.
